Marcia works with individuals, couples, and groups; clinical areas include depression, anxiety, grief and loss, family of origin problems, relational conflict and career concerns. She has specialized training and experience with adult children of aging parents, gay and lesbian concerns, the challenges facing the blended family, clergy, and those in the performing and visual arts..

"My favorite metaphor for life is that of 'journey' -- sometimes we know exactly where we are going and how we want to get there. At other times, we feel lost, in need of some new maps or directions, burdened by our baggage, wishing for a guide or companion. I believe the counseling process is about helping someone on their journey when they need that extra encouragement, support, guidance, challenge -- helping them make new maps, find new paths to their destination."

Along with her counseling practice, Marcia is a retreat and workshop leader, frequently incorporating drama therapy techniques, film clips, and music into her presentation. She has worked for hospitals, nursing homes and universities in staff education; for clergy and for churches (both locally and at the regional level), and for social service agencies.
