I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). I received my Master of Social Work degree from Ohio State University and have been licensed in Delaware, Kansas, Maryland and Washington, DC. I provide therapy in both English and Spanish.
My practice is open to people of all ages and my professional experience includes working with individuals representing different cultures, ethnicities and backgrounds. Recently, I spent 7 1/2 years in El Salvador where I was engaged in providing mental health services to a large rural population.
In my work I draw upon a variety of therapeutic approaches including supportive listening, expressive therapy, Cognitive/Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Bio-Energy therapies, and relaxation techniques. My clinical experience includes work with anxiety, trauma caused by war and other life events, depression, grief, loss, adjustment, parenting skills and relational issues.
Movement is a central component of the therapeutic alliance I enter into with clients: movement through pain and distress; movement that results in new attitudes and behaviors; movement that liberates the human spirit and provides energy for individuals to grow more fully into their potential as unique persons. Clients are welcome to draw upon their faith and/or spirituality as they involve themselves in this healing, growing process.
